Rich McDonald

Clinical Director
LCMHC

Rich is dedicated to creating a culture of compassion, integrity, and possibility—where every person feels supported as they begin building a life they may have once thought was not possible. With over 30 years of leadership experience and more than a decade in mental health and substance use disorder treatment, he brings depth, clarity, and genuine care to his role at Journey Treatment Center and Baylor’s House.

In long-term recovery himself, Rich is passionate about offering others the same hope he received. He believes recovery is not just about letting go of what harms us, but discovering a life worth protecting—a life we are unwilling to jeopardize. For Rich, trail running became that outlet, fueling his well-being and supporting his sustained recovery. He encourages clients to explore their own passions as they rebuild purpose and joy.

Rich also understands that recovery doesn’t happen alone. He values the power of community and believes that a strong, united team can change outcomes. By collaborating with professionals who share a human-centered philosophy, he works to create a treatment experience that feels authentic, connected, and different from other programs—one where clients feel truly seen, supported, and part of something bigger than themselves.

His mission is simple: provide a safe, collaborative, and inspiring space where healing is real, hope is accessible, and everyone has the opportunity to create a meaningful life they’re excited to protect.
